Kendra and Chris met in Nashville, TN (fall/2018) when Chris filled in on bass for the band Gemstone Revival where Kendra was the pianist. Chris joined the band permanently and it didn't take long for the two to become a couple. After Gemstone Revival disbanded (fall/2019), Chris and Kendra moved to Spokane, WA (spring/2022) to build their family and community together.
Whimsy and the Bee was birthed on a whim when the two decided to record a number of Chris' songs together after he had taken a 7 year hiatus in his musical pursuits. A name had to be chosen and Whimsy and the Bee was born. The debut ep 'The Rest' is a live recording of 7 songs that Chris wrote over the course of 10 years. The album, which was released in spring/2023, represents a coming to music in a new way for Chris after his active and boarderline obsesive pursuit of making music since he was 16.
Their next album "History" takes many of the familiar songs of "The Rest" and reproduces them with a full band. It was self-recorded at the S.Oak Recording Room and later engineered by Jay Condiotti, who recorded and mixed "The Rest" and then mastered by Stephen Petty John at Ethereal Mastering. Chris and Kendra are joined on the album by local Spokane musicians Lexi Nakahakala Bergin (violin), Tim Krohn (bass). Joe Morin from Nashville, TN is also featured in the album on drums.
"The Rest" & "History" are a culmination of Chris' prior solo project and act as the 7th album of a 7 album creation series under the moniker "Spirit of the Void". They are the changing of an era for Chris and a coming back to music in a new, more healthy, way. Chris owes all the thanks to God's healing presence and the influence of his wife Kendra. The Rest Is History.
The Rest was recorded live at Jay Bones Musicland in Spokane, WA
